Launch of the First Day of Geological Field Trips with the Geological Team from VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic
Today, on the first day of the scientific geological field trips, an academic team from the Faculty of Geology at VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, visited several important geological sites in the Duhok region.
The field trip was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Aziz, Dean of the College of Science, and Dr. Zahid Omar Mustafa, Head of the Department of Geology, and was coordinated and led by Dr. Abdulrahman Bamerni, with the participation of Dr. Mumtaz Mohammed Hassan, Mr. Ashty Tahir Mohammed, and Mr. Zeyad Daniel Zia.
During the trip, the visiting academic team explored the geological characteristics, stratigraphic successions, and rock types of the region through practical field observations. The trip also provided a valuable opportunity to exchange scientific knowledge and share fieldwork experiences among academic staff from both universities.
This scientific activity is part of the international academic cooperation between the University of Duhok and VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava under the Erasmus+ Programme. It aims to advance scientific research, strengthen the practical skills of students and academic staff, and establish a solid foundation for future collaborative research projects.
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the Dean of the College of Science and the Head of the Department of Geology for their valuable support and encouragement in facilitating these scientific activities and strengthening international academic cooperation.
We hope that such scientific initiatives will provide valuable opportunities to advance geological research and further strengthen academic relations between the two universities.
