The Plant Biotechnology Lab at the Scientific Research Center (SRC) hosted a one-day workshop titled "Plant Biotechnology in Scientific Research Center: Past, Present, and Future," presented by Prof. Dr. Diaa, Prof. Dr. Gharbia, and Dr. Belan. The agenda included four sessions that covered an introduction to plant biotechnology, its scope, aspects, and impacts. This was followed by discussions on plant genetic transformation, applications of plant biotechnology, and the achievements of the Plant Biotechnology Lab at SRC since its establishment. The presenters emphasized the significance of plant biotechnology in everyday life and its potential impact on society, particularly in securing food resources and ensuring human safety. They also highlighted the challenges that could arise if this technology were monopolized by specific companies aiming to control crop production for their benefit.
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Gharbia summarized the activities undertaken by the Plant Biotechnology Lab, including research publications, master's and PhD projects, collaborative initiatives with national and international universities, and training courses. On the other hand, about 11 persons attended the workshop, including only two participants from the DNA training course.
Thank you
Team of Plant Biotechnology Lab.
